How easy or difficult is banking digitization? That’s the topic of the upcoming round table discussion organized by aixigo and in cooperation with Vontobel and Fachschule für Bankwirtschaft. Four experts from the Swiss banking sector will discuss the complexity of banking digitization in the Swiss private sector.

An exciting topic that has been discussed up and down bank towers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, especially since the beginning of the COVID-pandemic. Banks are under enormous pressure because clients demand innovative solutions, which they get at challenger banks and neo banks. Digital brokerage, fancy mobile apps, fast payments, and digital reporting, banks struggle to keep up while fintechs attack them across the entire value chain. Additionally, banks are under pressure to cut costs in a low-interest-rate environment.

But all of that is nothing new and has been discussed for years. What’s changed now is that the pandemic has accelerated digital trends, and it has demonstrated banks where they lack in digitization.

What is the discussion about?

The round table will address how the Swiss Private Banking sector tackles (or should tackle) these issues. What is unique about Swiss Private Banking? What can digitization approve, and what can it not improve? Which opportunities does digitization offer? How to digitize the user experience? What have Swiss banks done so far to digitize? These questions and more will be at the core of the debate.

Who is discussing?

Four experts will discuss: Delia Steiner is Country Manager Switzerland & Liechtenstein at aixigo. Previously she worked as an economist at the Swiss National Bank, Seco, and EY, where she supported financial institutions with digital transformation.

Daniela Stehli-Wiederkehr is owner and CEO of Fachschule für Bankwirtschaft. She has been heading the organization since 2008 and has developed training programs for banking experts.

Andre Bantli is responsible for Investment Distribution & Client Management at Vontobel Wealth Management. Previously he worked for BlackRock in Switzerland, Middle East, and Europe. He looks back at more than 20 years of experience in Privat Banking and Wealth and Asset Management.

Claude Baumann is the founder and CEO of in Switzerland and in Singapore. He published several books about the financial industry and worked for several publishers and newspapers.

For anyone interested to learn more about the digitization challenges of the Swiss Private Banking sector – which is closely tied to Liechtenstein’s banking sector – this promises to be an exciting event. It will take place on 29th April 2021 at 10 AM, and participation is free of charge. You can register here.
