The Investors Summit Liechtenstein is one of the annual key events in Liechtenstein’s startup ecosystem. Selected startups get to pitch their ideas to 300+ decision-makers.
Every year, the Investor Summit Liechtenstein connects selected regional startups with decision-makers and investors. This year’s summit took place on 8 June and featured prominent guests such as investor Carsten Maschmeyer from the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen” and Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein, Chairman of the Board at Liechtenstein-based private bank LGT. Startups had a chance to network and present their ideas.
This year’s Investor Summit Liechtenstein was the 11th edition of the event. Liechtenstein’s Deputy Head of Government and Minister of Economic Affairs Sabine Monauni kicked off the event and listed the advantages of Liechtenstein as a business location.
“Here with us, your innovative or even revolutionary ideas are given the opportunity to become a reality, “she said. “We are right in the middle of things, well networked, pragmatic, and reliable – in short: a strong partner.”
The proximity to Germany and Switzerland, innovation-friendly regulations, Liechtenstein’s membership in the European Economic Area, and a well-developed startup ecosystem are the prime reasons young companies decide to launch in Liechtenstein.
Selected startups pitch their ideas
Seven selected startups had the opportunity to present their companies and ideas to around 300 top-class decision-makers and investors. The industries of the selected startups ranged from digital tools for investors, entrepreneurs, and private clients to autonomous drone systems for home delivery of goods.
Participants could network with investors and share their experiences at the Seed X Liechtenstein Venture Capital Breakfast. There were also several workshops where participants could learn from experienced investors and founders. The workshops were organized together with business angel organizations, venture capital companies, and other partners.
A highlight of this year’s event was the appearances of two top investors. Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein held a keynote and explained how sustainable investments and positive return expectations are not mutually exclusive.
He pointed to LGT’s work which is currently expanding its activities in the area of “impact investing.” For example, LGT invests in companies with scalable business models that increase financial and economic inclusion by helping underserved consumers access better livelihoods, information, and services.
Carsten Maschmeyer then had a fireside chat with moderator Lizan Kuster, explaining his journey and how he developed a financial consultancy into an international corporation in record time. Maschmeyer has been investing in startups since selling his company. He was enthusiastic about the pitches at the summit and praised Liechtenstein’s attractive startup conditions and ecosystem.
As every year, the Investor Summit Liechtenstein was sponsored by the Liechtenstein government and supported by numerous companies, business associations, network partners, and institutions. The main partners are the prosperity company and BDO (Liechtenstein). The organizer is the event agency Skunk AG.
